Interview with Jason Nockels in 2009, from the first issue of Oh Hi.

How do you introduce yourself to someone for the first time? Probably like ‘hey, I’m Jason’.

What’s the story behind Designblog? I got bored one weekend of procrastinating and thought I’d experiment with new ideas. I saw a few blogs out there and thought it’d be interesting to make one so I banged one out. That’s about it.

What’s unique about Designblog? Students have the ability to put their own work up and have it critiqued by other students or teachers. It also has the ability for you to sell your work through a personal advert kind of thing. For the most part it’s probably similar to most design blogs, it just has a different mixture of things.

What type of experience do you have as a visitor to Designblog? Hopefully an inspiring one.

What do you enjoy most about DesignblogThat I’ve had a lot of positive feedback and that it gives me something to do when I’ve drawn a blank with my work or any other problems I’m having. It gives me a chance to share so hopefully the things that inspire me inspire others.

What else? Right now I’m making chocolate… Working for an insurance company and hopefully finishing my degree. Also spending time with my partner.

Describe your style. Minimal, clean, clearly communicates…

What’s your most treasured creation? Probably my Super Mario website I spend ages on. Only because it took me so long drawing the graphics and figuring out how to make it work. It took me so long, it was a bitch.

Is it up on DesignblogUp there somewhere, along with my portfolio.

What’s one thing we should know about you? I don’t know. I’m a big fan of Tina Chen’s music. Google that shit man.

What’s next? Just whatever. I want to move to the States next year and just be a graphic designer.

Advice for those wanting to follow in your footsteps? Probably wouldn’t follow in my footsteps. Lets leave it at that.
